Sara-Ella Ozbek is a screenwriter and novelist whose novels, The High Moments and Nothing I Wouldn’t Do, were published by Simon & Schuster. The High Moments is being adapted for television by Working Title and Likely Story, with Sara-Ella the creator and writer. For Working Title Films, she has adapted Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park into a feature and written Principal, a feature biopic of Margot Fonteyn, with Lily James attached to star. She co-wrote romantic comedy Love Conquers Most with Dianna Agron, which has been picked up by Alex Cooper’s Unwell. For Charles Finch’s Rabbit’s Foot Films, Sara-Ella has adapted Polly Stenham’s Julie as a feature film, to be directed by Josie Rourke. She has also written two further features for the company: a comedy-drama inspired by Chekhov’s Three Sisters and original thriller Buried on the Beach. For Kersten Emhoff’s Ventureland, she wrote Los Algodones, an American satire based on a story by Santiago Fabregas, who will also direct.

 

In theatre, Sara-Ella wrote the book for Grayson The Musical, which opened at the Soho Theatre Walthamstow in summer 2026, with music by Richard Thomas, lyrics by Grayson Perry, whose life subject it is, and was directed by Sean Foley.

 

Her non-fiction writing has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, The Independent, A Rabbit’s Foot, Suitcase Magazine, Upstate Diary and Vogue.
